TURN ME ON is a free, community-focused exhibition, featuring bold Southern Californian artists and vendors who promote sexual empowerment and liberation with works featuring sexuality, body-positivity, self love, and fetish-freedom. TURN ME ON is loudly exposing heart, strength and sensuality by confidently honoring sexuality with communication through intersectionality and art. TURN ME ON will be showcased at ONE ONE SIX TWO during Echo Park Rising, which is a free, annual, neighborhood festival celebrating the community with art, music, vendors, and activities in over 100 locations throughout Echo Park, Los Angeles.

The TURN ME ON exhibition will be featuring more than 25 participating artists and 40+ bands and performers from across Los Angeles. By showcasing multiple artists of varying mediums, we expand the opportunity to meet new friends and connect with LA neighbors for an evocative in-take of ideas and personal journeys. TURN ME ON aims to stimulate viewers of all backgrounds by catalyzing provocative conversation of sexual experiences and challenging ideas of social pressures, shame, harassment, and antiquated gender roles.

Throughout the duration of the exhibition, TURN ME ON will be offering a full program of entertainment to encourage guests to interact with the art and space in engaging and transformative ways. TURN ME ON will include works including, but not limited to photography, fine art, sculpture, digital media, various vendors, an outdoor beauty refresh bar, live painting, musical acts, performance art, and more. A bar will be present, though non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.

ONE ONE SIX TWO believes in giving back to it’s local community, and therefore dedicates a large portion of it’s group exhibition proceeds to benefit selected nonprofit or community-focused organizations. TURN ME ON will be benefiting RAINN- which provides counseling, resources, and support for victims of sexual abuse.

The Edendale Branch Library is hosting an interactive sound bath installation and performative workshop featuring Suzanne Ciani’s latest release LIVE Quadraphonic. Cinematic composer for film, fashion and media Drum & Lace applies her spatial sound research background to this special series with an educational, interactive, performative workshop.

During Echo Park Rising take a break from the heat to lay on the library floor for a meditative sound bath featuring a four-speaker immersive sound playback of Suzanne Ciani’s comeback quadraphonic Buchla modular synth performance recording LIVE Quadraphonic.

At 1pm and 3pm Drum & Lace will then guide listeners through an interactive workshop exploring the spatial sound fundamentals including sampled field recordings and a short performance.

The Installation is made possible through generous support of Teenage Engineering.

EXP TV is the creative team behind a streaming channel launching this fall, including Taylor C. Rowley (a KXLU DJ, music supervisor, and film programmer), Cut Chemist's VJ Tom Fitzgerald, and music video director Marcus Herring. We're a group of music and video heads and we love to mix the two at any opportunity. Blank City has hosted one-off film screenings in the past but this is our first collaboration with them and the first year they've done it during Echo Park Rising. We're excited to present three days of programming that represents and celebrates the diverse range of artists who will be playing that weekend. Throughout the video party you’ll see a sneak peak of the channel, video mixes celebrating a wide range of beloved genres featuring performances by reigning dancehall queen Sister Nancy, outlaw country troubadour Merle Haggard, 90s club legends Deee-lite, Persian pop princess Googoosh, flirty French chanteuse Jane Birkin, electro pioneer Giorgio Moroder and Minnesota metalheads Impaler, and tons more. Feature films complementing our original video mixes, although we technically can’t publicize them, will be sprinkled throughout each day!

Subliminal Projects is pleased to present Here Comes the Howellman, new works by Los Angeles-based illustrator, artist and cartoonist Jay Howell. Featuring new mixed media works on paper, a limited edition print release, and an exclusive new zine release.

Exposed to punk music and skateboard culture at an early age, Howell immediately identified with their shared DIY ethos, inspiring him to self-publish his own zines, cartoons, animations, and skateboard graphics. Best known for his work as the character designer for Fox’s hit show, “Bob’s Burgers,” and as the co-creator, art director, and executive producer of “Sanjay and Craig,” an animated children’s show for Nickelodeon, Howell’s unique line-style, eccentric characters, carefree wit, and no-permissions-asked artistic approach has been exhibited around the world and garnered collaborations with brands such as Vans, Gucci, and Playboy.

Howell’s refreshingly simplistic yet subversive existential narrative in, Here Comes the Howellman, takes the viewer through a non-sequitur comic jumping from the adventures of his diverse gang of characters, to unfiltered musings, personal vulnerabilities, and just some downright silliness.

We are local artists looking to share our space to encourage other artists to thrive

Tomorrow night, DUBLAB presents a special happening in collaboration with @leiminspace and @thenumerogroup at @echoparkrising. Based on Irv Teibel’s influential series of 1970’s field recordings, Schelsey + Tamara & Michael of Leiminspace transform store front space into an “Environments” inspired installation! Encountering the artwork of twin sisters Joanna and Julia Araujo is like opening an antique music box only to discover that the dancing ballerina has been possessed by an adorable flesh eating nymph. Somewhere between nightmare and fairytale the sisters' collaborations, dubbed Little Ghouls Art, is as captivating as it is macabre.
