Will Fox

Will Fox was born in Houston, grew up in London and Paris, and studied Bossa Nova in Rio de Janeiro. He was going to run a gristmill in the Shenandoah Valley, but instead he moved to Los Angeles and became a troubadour. Listen. Hear that? It's the sound of Laurel Canyon cut with psychedelic folk. There's something else. These are songs of reckoning. “I know what is right,” he sings, “but I do what is wrong.”

Like any wanderer, Fox knows the unsettled life is not worth living. But what else is there? Well, music — the rare constant in an uprooted existence. His songs are compounded of a lifetime of influences: the instrumental stylings of Leo Kottke and John Fahey; the high-registered croon of Chris Bell, Neil Young, and George Harrison.

Fox’s progressions stray into unlikely places. Maybe it’s the Bossa Nova in him. Whatever the case may be, this much is true: these are good songs — good dreams — to get lost in, sung by a man who is never bashful and who laces his vulnerability with wisdom.
