While attending college in Los Angeles, songwriters Michael Stevenson and Rounak Maiti converged on their common interest in Americana and pop music to form Small Forward. After recruiting bassist Campbell Scott and drummer Nick Waldram, they released an eponymous debut EP in 2014 of downtempo, home-recorded songs. From 2015-16, the band developed their live act at venues across Los Angeles and began recording The Moon You Stand On. The full-length album, written, recorded and produced entirely in the band members’ shared home, featured a fully-realized collection of lush, folk-inspired psych-rock. The album was self-released in October 2016. Affections, the band’s latest mini-album (Forged Artifacts), is out in the Fall of 2017.
