Brash noisemaker and surf punk groove hound Nader didn't start his bedroom project as a band, but now he can't stop. His band, Nadu, has been playing LA continuously for the past year amidst their first EP that was released in February 2017, with a full-length follow-up due out this winter. Nader wrote and recorded the EP himself with a USB mic, computer and what The Stranger described as a “punk-as-hell” DIY attitude. The songs are about sleepwalking while hungover, demons who want all your money, the love of a good woman, bumming cigarettes, and evil alarm clocks. It is the frantic soundtrack of a college kid who constantly went to live punk shows and wanted to express himself in the same lively, energetic way by bringing in surf, punk, psych influences in one melodious and riffy soupy froth.
Originally a native of Dhaka, Bangladesh, Nader immigrated to Texas as a kid, served time in corporate jobs before quitting cold turkey to pursue music in LA. He has played shows as a one-man band, two-man rockin' duo and now as a trio with Julian Medina (drums) and Kenny Esparza (bass). Bringing the same diligence to tour planning, Nader was able to break even on their first tour of the West Coast, playing to crowds of 20-80 people each show. Next up on the horizon for Nadu is the full-length album follow-up to the EP, a slot in Echo Park Rising, a short jaunt back up to NoCal and as many LA shows as is thrown at them.
