Kosha Dillz

Kosha Dillz, born Rami Even-Esh, is a Korea Town Los Angeles resident from Edison New Jersey. The indie rapper turned Los Angeles dreamer began his childhood in sports, all the way from recreation soccer to being a  Division I NCAA wrestler for Rutgers University. His thirst for one on one competition led to him entering the notorious battle rap circuit of NYC under the name KD FLOW. A troubling battle with depression and drug addiction led to multiple arrests for dealing drugs in college and landed him behind bars, which was the prelude for his sobriety. While ashamed of his Jewish and Israeli heritage, he embraced it during a time when many inmates were seeing pastors to get time out of pods. At that time in his life, he decided to request to see a rabbi for the high holidays. Upon his release from incarceration, he re-took upon the name Kosha Dillz from KD, and began incorporating jewish references in his songs, as well as using Hebrew and Spanish. The renewed pride in his Jewish life has led him to throwing Punk Rock Shabbat, curating an official SXSW showcase called OY VEY, and being called "one of the rawest jewish kids I know" by Rza from the Wu Tang Clan.  He was even hacked once by ISIS.
Although living in NJ for the start of his musical career, much of his music was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Jesse Shatkin (Sia, Kelly Clarkson, Fitz and the Tantrums), creating what Dillz explains as user friendly hip hop to fight off his battles with mental health.  The duo landed a major break thru in 2012 with a bud light Super Bowl ad that financially changed their lives for the song "Cellular Phone." In 2013 they recorded Awkward in a Good Way, Dillz released on the album on LA rapper Murs' Label 316, and featured songs with Murs and Gangsta Boo of Three 6 Mafia, right before her massive collaboration with Run the Jewels.   Kosha's most recent album What I Do All and Pickle charted on 6 different billboard charts including #15 on the national heat seekers. and featured fellow Jewish superstar Matisyahu for their song Dodging Bullets. The two toured the song around all Europe and USA playing it for hundreds of thousands of people in the summer of 2016 festivals with the likes of Mac Demarco , Nathaniel Ratliff and many more. including a USA tour with 311.
This summer, Echo Park Rising will be the 39th Festival for Kosha Dillz, who completed the final 38 city festival run of Vans Warped Tour alongside Bowling for Soup, Simple Plan and 3oh3 and more. Kosha Dillz is known through out the industry for his hustle and persistence. He has toured and shared stages with everyone from Macklemore and The Pizza Underground to Portugal the Man and ASAP Rocky. His upcoming album Nobody Cares Except You, due out early November, is the product of his  $20,000+  Kickstarter he completed right before Vans Warped Tour this summer.
